Nuevo Barrio Alianza neighbourhood is the leading project that paves the way for the recovery of Argentina's most environmentally degraded and polluted arear: the lower Matanza-Riachuelo river basin. Located in a historically industrial area, this project is a neighborhood focused on collective housing and local productive development. It is made up of work spaces, state-loan housing and housing for the relocation of families from the bordering informal settlements of 'Villa Inflamable' and 'Villa Tranquila'.
In addition, the project proposes new roads through a commercial boulevard, freeing up the waterfront as an area for recreation and activity for residents a visitors, prioritizing public space and green areas, which occupy 35% of the total area. The neighbourhood houses 4000 families and consolidates 700m of unused waterfront.
